01

Family Based Petitions

Family Based Petitions allow individuals in the United States to sponsor their family to immigrate to the United States. The Immigration and Nationality Act allows for the immigration of foreigners to the United States based on a relationship to a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident.

04

Citizenship

Naturalization is the process by which a foreign national becomes a U.S. citizen.
It is a significant milestone for many individuals who seek to enjoy the rights and privileges of being a U.S. citizen, including the right to vote, travel freely, and obtain certain government benefits.

02

Adjustment of Status

Adjustment of Status is a process that allows certain individuals already in the United States to apply for lawful permanent resident status, also known as a Green Card. This process is available to individuals who meet specific eligibility criteria.

05

VAWA

VAWA, formally known as Victims Against Woman Act, allows eligible victims of abuse and violence to self-petition for lawful permanent residency without the need for their abuser to sponsor them. It also allows certain family members of U.S. citizens and lawful permanent residents who have been abused to petition for immigration benefits independently.

03

Asylum

An asylum is a form of protection granted to individuals who have fled their home country due to persecution or a well-founded fear of persecution based on their race, religion, nationality, political opinion, or membership in a particular social group.

06

U VISA

The U visa is a nonimmigrant visa category in the United States, specifically designed to provide temporary legal status and work authorization for victims of certain crimes who have suffered significant mental or physical abuse and are willing to assist law enforcement and government officials in the investigation or prosecution of the criminal activity.

07

Deportation Defense

Deportation, also known as removal, is the legal process by which a non-citizen is ordered to leave the United States due to violations of immigration law or certain criminal convictions. At Santiago Torres, we understand the emotional and practical challenges
individuals and their families face when confronted with deportation proceedings.

Our Immigration Attorney is dedicated to providing compassionate, professional, and legal representation to protect your rights and help you remain in the United States.

10

Appeals and Motions

If an unfavorable decision is reached in your case, we can assist with filing appeals or motions to reopen or reconsider the decision, advocating for a fair and just
outcome in your case.

08

Legal Representation

We provide comprehensive legal representation throughout the entire
deportation process, including representation in immigration court hearings and before the
Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA).

09

Bond Hearings

If you are detained during your deportation proceedings, our attorney will
advocate for your release on bond or parole.

11

Waivers

Immigration waivers are “pardons” the U.S. government grants for specific
immigration violations. Immigration violations make you inadmissible. In other words, you cannot get a green card unless you receive an immigration waiver.

12

Motion to Reopen

A Motion to Reopen is a process that asks an immigration court to reopen
proceedings after an Immigration Judge has made a decision so that the Judge can consider
important new evidence in the case

13

Cancellation of Removal

14

Consular Process

15

Work Permits

Cancellation of removal is an immigration benefit whereby
permanent residents and non-permanent residents may apply to an immigration judge to adjust their status from that of deportable alien to one lawfully admitted for permanent residence,
provided certain conditions are met.

16

Once you are the beneficiary of an approved immigrant petition and an immigrant visa number is immediately available, there are two ways to apply for lawful permanent resident status (a Green Card).

Form I-765 (officially called “Application for Employment Authorization”), is an application used by foreign nationals to obtain employment authorization in the U.S. If you plan on working while waiting for your green card approval, you’ll need to apply for a work permit by filing Form I-765. With a permit (also called an Employment Authorization Document, or EAD), you

17

Residency Renewal

Parole in Place

Both Lawful Permanent Residents (LPRs) and Conditional Permanent
Residents (CPRs) should apply to renew or replace their green cards. LPRs must do so by filing the form I-90, and CPRs can replace their green cards by filing the Form I-751.

Parole in Place is an immigration benefit reserved for family members of
military members and veterans (both alive or deceased) that grants spouses, sons and daughters,
and parents temporary permission to be in the United States (which can be renewed) while they
pursue a more permanent legal status. It can be used as a way to protect a person from deportation, reopen a deportation case, and qualify for a work permit.
